The study was originally composed in a shorter version as an exercise for simple four-part arpeggios with two easy to strum tones on the 2nd and 3rd strings, which however combined with the 1st and 5th open string, develop a fascinating effect. I later elaborated the study in two versions. Further versions are available for violin and guitar and guitar and piano.
